LO3 - D2- Demonstrate how the technical and aesthetic properties of the media components meet the client brief
Brochure
The College@Deyes brochure’s first page features an image of
the Deyes 6th form building, this is because in the brief it states
that an image of the building must be included. This is because it is the USP.
The image is bright and eye catching it makes the 6th form building
look modern and new and will make students want to join. The image will be a
long shot image so the whole of the building will be in the shot. There is a
colour scheme in my brochure so there is a house style. I am using those
colours so it is recognisable and makes it familiar to the audience. The colours used are the schools colours. There is a
slogan on the front cover the slogan will be persuasive and powerful, the bold text will stand out and catch
the audiences eyes.
On the second page there are speech bubbles stating why
students joined College@Deyes these speech bubbles are red and stand out
against the navy background. In the brief it said there should be bright
colours to attract the attention of the audience. The colours are bright and
still keeping to the house style and theme. There are also extra shape features
to make the page more aesthetically pleasing and look nice. The brochure is
appropriate for both children and parents. The speech bubbles make the advert
engaging. There is also information on this page about A-Level results another
client requirement that needed to be incorporated into the advert. There are
statistics included on the grades they achieved. This is to attract high achieving students who want to get top grades.
The brochures third page includes information on the new
facilities the 6th form building has this was included in the brief,
this is to show how our College is modern and how the school can supply them
with the educational needs they need. The colours are the same as the previous
pages keeping to the house style. The images of the school show student life at College@Deyes.
Lastly the page includes an image of the school badge this
makes the school look prestigious and responds to the client requirements
stated in the brief. There is also contact information and a web address so the
audience can find out more information about College@Deyes. On the school
website there are pages about grades students have achieved, the alumni of
Deyes and information about open days.
Radio
The radio advert
is 50 second longs and directly addresses the audience. In the brief it said
the advert must be over 45 seconds at least. The advert features Deyes students
sharing with the audience why they joined College@Deyes and what they like
about it. The advert also talks about the grades to attract students with high GCSE marks to join Deyes. And the new building showing how Deyes isn't just a prestigious school it is also aesthetically pleasing. This was
important to include as this must be included as part of the brief. The radio
advert also includes links to the website and Deyes social media accounts. The radio features different students guiding their perspective of Deyes showing the great student experience at Deyes. The
radio’s music bed isn’t overpowering and goes nicely with the voice over. The
technical conventions of the radio all meet the brief and get the College@Deyes
message across to the audience.

LO3 - M3- Explain how the created media components comply with the the codes and conventions of the media sectors
M3: Explain how the
created media components comply with the codes and conventions of the media
sectors
Conventions of a radio
advert
-
The average duration of a radio advert is 40 seconds however they can
be as little as 15 seconds or as long as 60 seconds.
-
The content must be appropriate for the target audience and not contain
any explicitly if it’s not suitable for the age group.
-
Radio adverts are mostly short and simple and include another type of
media platform the listener can use to find out more information. For example,
at the end of a radio advert they could give a web address.
-
The radio advert will feature a music bed, there are usually no words
in the music and they aren’t louder than the voiceover
-
Radio adverts will always have a voice over
-
The voice over will always be a clear understandable voice.
-
The language used will be targeted to suit the demographic
-
The language used is always persuasive

How my radio advert meets
the conventions of a radio advert
-
The duration of my radio advert is 50 seconds, and the average length
of a radio advert is 40 seconds.
-
The content in my advert is suitable for children and there is no
explicit content. So, there can be no offense caused.
-
My radio advert is short and simple and includes at the end of the
radio advert a link to the school’s website and informs the listener of the College@Deyes
social media accounts.
-
The radio features a music bed, it’s not over powering and can be heard
in the background of the voice over.
-
The radio advert has multiple voice overs, these are all students
sharing with the listener why they joined College@Deyes. There is a main voice
over that is at the beginning of the advert and at the end, this is a clear way
to introduce and conclude the advert.
-
I have edited the pitch of the voice overs as some of them had a hiss
tone to them. This is important as the voice overs must be clear and easy to understand.
-
The language is persuasive, this is done by describing things such as
the new facilities, the new 6th form building and how supportive the
6th form team are at Deyes.
-
The slogan “College@Deyes where your future start” is used also on my

is being met. The text is minimal.
-
The information in the brochure directly addresses the audience and
tells and shows them why they should join.

stated in the client brief that this must be done. This also shows the success
students go on to achieve at College@Deyes and will make people want to join
Deyes.

stands out and will grab the attention of the audience, as it shows a new
